Young children will delight in making their own, simple picture book with paper arts, painting, drawing and more. Each class will begin with the instructor stimulating the children’s imaginations with colorful images and then demonstrating the lesson activity.  Then the children will be guided to create their story book with the pictures they have imagined.  This is the ideal preparation for young ones getting ready to read and write.  Class size is limited to 5.

Janet is available for private art instruction in a large variety of art mediums.  The cost per 1 hour session including all materials is $45 for individuals, $70 for 2 students and $85 for 3.  Parents and children may share a lesson.

Janet will modulate the lesson difficulty to meet the individual levels of the students.

Everyone will paint a beautiful landscape of pure, vibrant colors using chalk pastels layered over a watercolor under painting.  With supportive guidance, participants will easily create a beautiful, impressionistic rendition of the landscape photo they are working from. Participants will discover how using complementary colors in an under painting creates a profoundly satisfying foundation for the landscape theme.

This unique book making art class will enrich home school curricula with activities that will challenge and stimulate young authors.  Students will learn a step-by-step guide to creating their own storybook, cookbook, picture book, dream book or anything book! Academic skills in reading, writing, critical thinking and fine motor skills will be strengthened in this class.  Additionally, students will enrich their educations with artistic instruction in painting, drawing, design, composition and creative writing.  Everyone will finish this class with their own individual book to keep and showcase forever!

Starting abstractly, everyone will paint a beautiful picture    of pure, radiant veils of watercolor.  Then with supportive guidance, participants will discover the theme of the painting and learn painting techniques to make it become visible, creating a beautiful watercolor picture arising from the imagination.  Participants will use easels, large paper and stiff acrylic brushes to learn the technique of layering  watercolor glazes on dry paper.
